2025 Mountain Winery

On Thursday, May 15, 2024, Katherine and Brian travelled to our old stomping grounds in the San Francisco Bay Area and first visited Lise and Eric, then stayed for a couple days to see a Mountain Winery concert, and saw Stuart. Click on any photo for a much larger highest resolution original I have.
Below is a picture of our Smartcar parked at Austin Airport AUS. We flew into SFO airport on Thursday, May 15, and drove directly to Lise's house where we also met Eric Hawkes.
Random picture from the airplane window.
As we land in San Francisco (SFO), I took this picture of Coyote Point Marina. I kept a boat in this marina for a few months around 2001.
Welcome to SFO! We take the AirTrain from here to pickup our rental car.
We take a direct drive to Lise's house in Fairfax.
Katherine, Eric, and Lise at lunch. We are on the top back deck of Lise's house.
Just a picture to record the brands below. Lise's espresso maker.
We sold Lise a used 2009 Smartcar that Katherine owned. Lise still has it! I took the picture below in 2025, so it is now around 17 years old.
After lunch, Katherine and I (Brian) drove south crossing over the Golden Gate Bridge. Picture by Katherine:
The next day, Friday, May 16, Katherine and I drove up to the Mountain Winery to see Diana Krall in concert. Below is a photo as we walked in a little early.
The Mountain Winery has different pleasant little places to gather, here Katherine is on one overlook.
Below is a panorama from our seats.
The opening act.
Diana Krall in concert.
I took the picture below (with a Smartphone) to illustrate an interesting phenomenon. Many, many people pull out their cell phones and record. I just find it interesting. Personally I think a picture or two, maybe a 5 second recording is Ok, but it seems strange to spend the entire concert staring at your little screen recording an event instead of relaxing and being in the moment.
We were tired and left the venue a bit early. Below is the full venue and the city of San Jose below.
The next day we visited Stuart Cheshire at his house. Below is Stuart with his equipment rack/machine room (this is in his home). Stuart has started deploying more Ubiquiti WiFi access points, powered over Ethernet, and security cameras from Ubiquiti also.
Stuart is putting in a review view mirror in his RV. Since the RV blocks the view, this means a camera pointed backwards and a screen where the rear view mirror is.
Stuart installed a 220V British Plug in his Los Gatos home! The reason I like this is I also installed one for myself.
Stuart's award shelf, with a Backblaze award on the far right top.
Just to record this stuff for future reference, we stayed at Los Gatos Hotel. Below is a picture of the living room and you can see the bedroom on the left.
A picture out our hotel room window.
A picture of the bathroom.
And here is a photo I always like taking riding the AirTrain to SFO to fly home.
That's it! That's all the pictures. All done!
