These are some random pictures from the Boulder, Colorado area where my buddy Garth lives. To see some pictures from the local ski areas, click on: Winter Park/Mary Jane, Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Keystone, Arapahoe Basin.

Here is the view from Garth's driveway (corner of Lehigh and Cripple Creek in Boulder):

I had never seen this before. When the ski lift breaks down the ski patrol must get the people off the lifts using ropes. This picture shows the ski patrol practising at a local Boulder area. You can see the rope is attached to two poles, and if they flick the poles just right they get the rope to slide down to the next chair. The trapped skiers then slide down the rope:

On Saturday morning, 1/27/99, I drove to the small town of Frisco (which is within 10 miles of Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Arapahoe Basin, and Keystone), and got a hotel. Here is a picture of Frisco's Main Street:

On the way to Frisco, I took highway 6 (south of Boulder by 30 miles). It is an amazing little stretch of road, including several tunnels and a stunning canyan. Here are some pictures from the morning of 2/27/99, through my front windshield. They are a little dark because it's very early and the canyan is very deep, so the light wasn't hitting the road:
